My first police experience

 


Just last month I had a serious issue with the Nigerian police men because I was with my laptop as a blogger which was a normal thing.



They held me for over 7 hours asking me to give them 500 thousand Naira,funny set of men thinking everybody with a laptop is a yahoo boy.I later resolved that issue with the intervention of the divisional police officer.



Then tonight another event that occurred some years ago came to mind,police men and women will never change their ways,they are just too funny carrying their corrupt minds around.



As a young boy selling pure water in the market then,I was just 13 or 14 I Think peacefully I carried my water on my head selling,hoping to meet the next customer so I heard a call from up-stairs opposite New Benin baptist church so I went up as I was on the last stair case a guy who was in his late 30 came pushed all my water to the ground.



I innocently asked him sir what did I do?but his reply was a dirty slap on my face,I have never had such a slap before so in tears the first thing that came to my mind was the police.



I went straight to New Benin police station,then all I knew about the police was what I see on TV,so I met a lady who I explained my predicament to and she ordered 2 officers to go with me(at this stage I'm laughing as I'm typing)I could still remember the looks of those officers;a slim stature man with glasses on and a chubby lady.



They both accompanied me to the place,first the guy was shocked surprised I went to call the police,before coming I over heard their Boss telling them not to come without the man.so as they where coming down-stir an elderly man who is the owner of the compound then intercepted us and excused the officers to another room,I was amazed that the officers that were shouting came out with a smile on their face.

All they could say was that the guy should pay for  my water and buy hot rub for me.

Innocently I took my bowl and left the scene feeling disappointed.

Our police men should try and forget bribery and work with integrity,the decay the Nigeria police force has past through its bones and its collapsing.

Even if they pay them a million Naira monthly they will still collect money,so money is not their problem,their problem is attitude,first time impression from some of their superiors and pressure from the judas amongst them.funny set of men hope you enjoyed my story
